080121 0245 BoS Entry
decided to dedicate a year and a day (actually, 366 (it's a leap year) + 10 days) to exploring wicca although i already know this is for me. the moment i saw diane smiths explanation of the convergence of quantum, wave and particle physics and string theory consistent with the beliefs of wiccans that everything is connected via strands and waves and particles of energy i was convinced. i set: 2nd feb '09 as the date as it is one day past my birthday and imbolc to boot.
i haven't explored any web sites yet, but i do have 4 books besides smiths (wicca for dummies) including two of scott cunningham who seems the authority on solitaries. and i have a couple on order that cover the gardenarian tradition, although the trads and some of the hierarchal covens are too close to regular religions with all that implies to appeal to me at all. and with social and anxiety disorder, the solitary seems made to order anyway.
took a short walk tonight and was disappointed to see it heavily overcast and could not see the moon although i knew where in the sky it was. the moon is only one day from being full (it is officially full tomorrow on jan 22nd 2008 and my astromical calendar says it is 'only' 97% today) and has been spectacular the last few days, even in daylight. just as i was about to turn back into my door an amazing thing happened. a gap opened in the sky that was only about as large as 6 moons and showed the full moon shining through. i'm convinced this was a sign that i'm on the right track with this exploration of wicca. some would say the goddess was winking at me, but i doubt i'd go that far ... yet! "Dark Tower", Hooper -- timeline
There's a whole website attacking Hooper; so far I've seen a few people asking if there's a site defending him, but none reported. So here are a few notes, ammunition, for the defense (or at least for civil discussion of some of the issues).
Standing way back and looking at the shape of the forest, a VERY SIMPLE defense timeline might be helpful (if I had time to look up the dates).
-- charges made
-- petition to look into the charges
-- looked into by Doug Gresham and the estate
-- looked into by publisher
-- looked into by __?
-- examined for forgery etc
-- Fowler's evidence, some other ms of the same group proved genuine
-- present: Hooper retains his job; the book is still in print (unchanged?
after how many editions?)
At this date, it wouldn't be just an accusation against Hooper, but against
Doug and everyone else who has looked into it.
